Parental Escort Policy FAQs

How will the policy be enforced?
The policy, in effect daily, begins at 8:30 p.m. with unsupervised youths being advised of the Parental Escort Policy to be enforced at 9:00 p.m.  After 9:00 p.m., visitors to the Boulevard ages 18 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian 21 years of age or older while in common areas.  Parental or guardian escorts must maintain visual contact with all youth for whom they are responsible.

Visitors ages 18 and under may shop at establishments with extended operating hours by directly proceeding to and from the venue

How will Security determine that a visitor is age 16 or under?
To enforce the rules associated with the policy, patrons may be asked to provide valid photo identification with date of birth, such as a driver’s license, school identification, or passport.

What if the youth is unable to provide valid identification?
The individual will be asked to arrange for transportation off the property. They may return with appropriate identification.

Where should I plan to pick up my child?
Pick-up arrangements should be determined prior to 9:00pm.  Youths aged 18 and under who remain at The Boulevard at the Capital Centre for the purpose of patronizing a retail establishment after 9pm should be picked up at that location.

Is the policy “one youth to one adult”?
One adult may be responsible for more than one youth, with proper supervision and control.

Do I have to be with the youth I am escorting?
Yes - an adult must maintain visual contact with the youth(s) for whom they are responsible.

While the policy is in effect, will my child be permitted to patronize Magic Johnson Theatres, restaurants, or stores whose hours extend past 9:00 pm without adult supervision?

This policy applies to the common areas of the Boulevard at the Capital Centre – the outdoor plazas, sidewalks, and parking lots. Unsupervised youth may patronize establishments with extended operating hours, subject to individual store policies. Under such circumstances, youth are asked to proceed directly to and from the venue.
